I am fascinated by animal behaviour and passionate about pet welfare. As a veterinary surgeon I have a thorough understanding of the effects ill health can have on an animal’s behaviour. Through owning and training a range of my own pets I have also gained plenty hands on experience!
Behaviour problems commonly treated include, but are not limited to;
Dogs
- dog-human aggression,
- dog-dog aggression,
- predatory behavior,
- pica/coprophagia (inappropriate eating habits!),
- management issues,
- fear/anxiety related behaviours including noise phobias and separation anxiety
Cats
- inappropriate toileting ,
- destructive behaviours,
- attention seeking,
- anxiety,
- specific fears/phobias
Techniques used are based on up to date, scientific information and employ positive, reward based training methods in all treatment programmes.
Many behaviour problems take a long time to develop and there is no quick fix to treating them. Treatment regimes require consistency, commitment, time and effort and the involvement of all family members.
