‘Maggie’

MaggieMaggie an 8yr old Border Collie cross was brought to me by her owner Juanita Rogers, as she had suddenly started pacing, panting and whining in the evenings and refusing to go to bed. A veterinary examination and bloodwork told us she was in good health, with just a little stiffness in her hips. Through a thorough history we deduced that she was displaying severe anxiety about bedtime and the dark, although the initial trigger was unknown. We started weekly Acupuncture treatment for her hip arthritis, to which she responded very well. Through a combination of behaviour modification training and the use of herbal calming supplements (Zylkene and Calmex), Maggie’s anxiety drastically reduced and she was back to her usual happy self within a few weeks!

‘Elsa’

ElsaElsa, an 11yr old tabby cat, was displaying inappropriate toileting behaviour and unpredictable aggression towards her owner – biting when being handled and ambushing feet and ankles! By gaining detailed knowledge of the behaviour patterns of each cat in the household, Annabel could easily explain the development of both her toileting and aggressive behaviour. A behavioural modification programme was instigated to make Elsa feel more secure in her environment and help reduce her fear of being handled.  We also used an herbal supplement to reduce anxiety.  Elsa no longer displays any aggression towards her owners and uses her own personal litter tray every time!
